Don't Panic, It's Just AI: Live App Building
Wednesday October 9, 2024 2:15pm - 2:45pm EDT
Grab your towel and join us for an interstellar journey through the galaxy of app development! In this session, we'll harness the power of AI to build an app faster than you can say "So long, and thanks for all the fish."

Armed with nothing but a keyboard and a chat bot, we'll embark on a live coding adventure. What will we build? That's up to you, the audience! Watch as we navigate the treacherous waters of AI-assisted coding. You'll witness firsthand how to use chat bots to write code.

But beware! This live demonstration could go spectacularly well or end up as a digital version of the planet-building disaster of Magrathea (spoiler: it didn’t go well). Either way, you'll learn real (as in, you'll see them work, or hilariously fail) tips and tricks for using chat bots effectively in your coding adventures.

So, whether you're a seasoned code hitchhiker or a newbie just learning to fly, come along for a wild ride through the AI-powered universe of app development.

Connecting the Dots: Mobile Mapping Survey, GIS & Construction Workflows
Wednesday October 9, 2024 4:30pm - 5:00pm EDT
Technology moves fast. Breakthroughs are often outdated quickly. Today’s companies must embrace innovation in all its forms.
Workflows are transitioning from an analog world to digital point clouds, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decisions
LiDAR Scanning provides the tools necessary to create digital twins of the world. High-speed data capture allows increases in productivity without compromising accuracy and quality. Data collected a vehicle moving at the speed of traffic. Points are measured in billions. Progress is measured in miles versus meters.
Connections to the data enable decisions based on accurate and up-to-date information. Projects are being built under budget, ahead of time, and without paper using digital workflows.
Exciting times. Sensor fusion. Cell phones tell a person how many steps they have taken. Street View in Google Maps is assumed. Connect and Scale. It’s happening everywhere. What’s next?

Leveraging KyFromAbove with Cloud-Friendly Tools
Thursday October 10, 2024 9:45am - 10:15am EDT
For years, the KyFromAbove Program has offered unlimited access to imagery and elevation data collected for the Commonwealth via Web Maps, Rest Services, Geoportal, and most recently, the Open Data Portal.  Since joining the Open Data Registry on AWS, it is now possible to leverage KyFromAbove data using its cloud-optimized formats (e.g., COGS, COPCs, Geopackage, (Geo)Parquat, etc.).

Spatio-Temporal Asset Catalogs, or STACs, provide a common structure to describe and catalog spatio-temporal assets. This means that by creating a STAC, it is possible to create a dynamic (API) or static catalog to query and visualize KyFromAbove data. Such tools are available to access STACs using ArcGIS Pro 3.2+, QGIS (plus STAC-browser extension), Jupyter Notebooks, and the browser-based Stac-Browser and Stac Index webpages.

This presentation will focus on leveraging STAC tools and the KyFromAbove STAC Catalog.
