The KY GIS Conference serves as a pivotal event for professionals in the field of geographic information systems (GIS), providing opportunities to enhance our understanding and application of spatial data management, analysis, and collaboration.
Throughout the conference, participants will:
  • Engage in interactive sessions and workshops led by industry leaders and fellow professionals.

  • Network with peers from diverse sectors, fostering potential collaborations and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

Are you ready for the next step in capturing images and creating awesome maps, board reports, department presentations, neighborhood project updates, or historical land records? Participants in this workshop will serve on a drone team, plan and fly a simple mission in the surrounding area, process the data, and create a number of final products to include: orthorectified maps, lidar point clouds, 3D models, and more. Also discussed will be how to become an FAA Part 107 pilot, how to plan and specify a UAS project request, UAS hardware and software, and the basics of owning and operating a UAS. This workshop is for folks who require the acquisition of images or videos for department /agency /school /business projects.
1. This all-day workshop will begin with an orientation to UAS vehicles and payloads on the Southwest Campus of JCTCS.
2. The participants will then be divided into small groups to observe the flying of different vehicles and sensors at multiple locations. This will include flying RGB, multispectral, thermal IR, and lidar.
3. After flying the missions, participants will return to the Southwest Campus location for the analysis of the data collected.
4. The lab demonstration of the analysis will be conducted in the afternoon
5. Participants must conduct all three sessions to get a certificate of attendance, CEUs or PDHs
Parking is free at the Southwest Campus location.
